Meet Dr. Ward

My name is Courtney Ward. I am from the small city of Sumter “Merk City” South Carolina. I graduated from THE Clemson University with a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences. I spent a year working at Clemson as a teaching assistant before moving to Birmingham, Alabama to pursue my Doctorate of Optometry Degree. I graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry in May of 2018. I am currently pursuing a residency.

I have spent the majority of my 20 something years in school, which for me, have been difficult. Not in a scholastic sense, but difficult because I feel that the majority of my friends seemingly already have established careers. But I am learning to be appreciative of my journey and truly understanding that it’s just that-MY journey.

I will be contributing my experiences as a black, female 20 Something in the optometry field and other important ocular related information. Stay tuned!
